Sora Waqoo was a resident of the East Guji zone when he was killed by unknown assailants in Moyale on July 26, 2021. He was Assistant Administrator of Peace in the Borana Zone.
Witnesses heard gunshots within the sessi area, three kilometers west of the station. when an adult male who sustained gunshot wounds was rushed to Moyale general hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police officers from Moyale rushed to Moyale general hospital where they established that the man sustained two gunshot wounds: one on the left hand and one on the chest that exited the back. The assailant was unidentified. Upon conducting a search, the officers found in the victim’s pocket an Ethiopian identity card, which identified him as Sora Wako Jatani, 30-years-old. Officers visited the scene of the incident and recovered two empty cartridges of 7.62 ×39 mm. The body was moved to the Moyale general hospital morgue, pending postmortem.
