Father Killed and Dumped in Forest | Because I am Oromo

Mr. Jiloo Waaqoo was a resident of East Guji Zone before his brutal murder at the hands of  Ethiopian government security forces. Mr. Jiloo was a political prisoner, accused of helping the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) gain access to food and other basic necessities. He had previously been jailed for five months on allegations that his first born son had joined the OLA. According to an eyewitness, who spoke on the conditions of anonymity, the deceased was kidnapped from Wadara police station by Oromia special forces on July 2, 2021. He was then killed and his body dumped in the nearby forest.

Mr. Waaqoo Jilo was 75-years-old according to his first born son, who is also the head of the OLA (Cibra sodom Borro) River Dambi branch. His son has refuted the claim that he was sent by his deceased father to join the OLA. He said that β€œhe went to the forest willingly to fight for the freedom of his community.” He further stated that, β€œmy father was assassinated just like any other Oromo whose life has been unjustly taken and through an evil way.”
