Teacher
Gemechis works as a lecturer at Haramaya University. He has a BSc. degree from Jimma University and MSc. degree from Mbarara University of Science and Technology (Uganda). He is currently studying another MSc. at Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen Nuremberg (Germany).
Gemechis was born and raised in a small town called Figa, in Bodji Chokorsa district of West Wallaga Zone, Oromia, Ethiopia. He completed his primary and secondary education in Figa and his preparatory school (11-12) in a nearby town called Guliso at Guliso secondary and preparatory school. Gemechis is a native speaker of Afaan Oromoo and he completed his primary education (1-8) in Afaan Oromoo as the medium of instruction. Additionally he learned Afaan Oromoo as a subject in secondary and preparatory school (9-12). Furthermore, he has participated in various English to Afaan Oromoo translation projects and has translated over 100,000 words since 2019. Gemechis has a strong desire for teaching Afaan Oromoo.
