During the month of June, the military operation continued in Oromia as Ethiopian government forces continued extrajudicially killing Oromo civilians and burning down hundreds of farmers’ homes. A practice they justify by claiming that the victims have connections to the OLA. It should be noted that those individuals listed below are only those whose deaths have been made public through the media, and does not include mass executions that have occurred or other incidents which have gone unreported. OLLAA continues to condemn these attacks on Oromo civilians. As the primary duty bearer under international law, the Ethiopian government has a duty to protect its citizens and to ensure that independent investigations are launched into alleged violations of civilians’ rights. OLLAA calls on the international community to condemn these atrocities and support those impacted by this violence. Further as the government forces continue to inflict violence on civilian populations with impunity, OLLAA continues to appeal to the international community to take action, including by establishing independent investigations into these reports of human rights violations and injustices.
