Zeenabaa Adam is not only a loving wife and mother, but a warrior. She was born and raised in Ajjee, Arsi where she also met her loving husband, Abdoo Kabbitee. They grew up in the same small town always crossing paths, and over time they sparked a connection that turned into a beautiful love story. Abdoo Kabbitee was a military man who dedicated his life to his country. He joined the Ethiopian National Defense Force in 1999. Zeenabaa fell in love with Abdoo’s passion and energy that he demonstrated in fighting for his people’s rights and freedoms. She anticipated the day he would pass that energy off to their children. In 2019 the young couple welcomed another member of their family, Naaif Kabbitee. They were ecstatic and overwhelmed with this new chapter in their life and put all their love and energy into ensuring the safety of their beautiful child.
After Hachaalu Hundessa’s killing, Kabbitee had no doubts about joining his people in peaceful protest, but he could never have anticipated what it would cost him. On November 21st, 2020, Kabbitee was arrested while protesting and taken to the town of Ajjeetiin to sit in jail without any valid charges. Days after Kabbitee was arrested, the police invaded his home and arrested Zeenabaa and Naaif without an arrest warrant or charges. Jail is no place for a baby, so Naaif’s extended family are doing everything they can to bring him home, but the police have refused to release him or disclose his whereabouts. To date, they remain incarcerated without charge.
This is the horrific story of Zeenabaa Adam & Abdoo Kabbitee.
